MGX Minerals Inc announced that assays are “imminent” at its GC lithium pegmatite claims in British Columbia, according to a statement.
Visual identification of pegmatite has indicated a reasonable likelihood of a hard rock lithium deposit, the company said, and MGX Minerals has carried out geological mapping and geochemical sampling of the GC and Grail pegmatite.
The company has sent seven rock chip samples of mineralized pegmatite to ALS Global for ME-MS89L and sodium peroxide fusion geochemical analysis including lithium-cesium-rubidium-tantalum-beryllium-yttrium and rare earth elements.

The GC claims are located on the south flank of the Frenchman's Cap gneiss dome in the Shuswap Metamorphic complex, the company said. Gneiss, quartzite, schist, calc-silicate rocks, minor marble and argillite are isoclinally folded with easterly trending structures. Folding and jointing are common with planes intruded by swarms of pegmatite and lamprophyre dikes.
Lithium-cesium-tantalum pegmatites are a petrogenetically defined subset of granitic pegmatites that are associated with certain granites, the company noted, and they consist mostly of quartz, potassium feldspar, albite, and muscovite.
Meanwhile, MGX also announced the advancement of its solar silicon feedstock project near Canal Flats, British Columbia. Its initial proposal to the federal government has not received a response from Natural Resource Canada’s zero-emission vehicle infrastructure program, the company said, so MGX is now focused on provincial and indigenous support for its silicon mining operations.
The company’s mine-to-market strategy is intended to increase the supply of feedstock and replace Chinese imports with metallurgical grade silicon feedstock to be used for various upgrades, including in solar panels, as carbonate steel in automotives and other applications.
Additionally, MGX noted the gold commissioner of British Columbia has advised the company that he intends to revoke the free miner certificate license of MGX for failure to remediate open portals at Heino Gold. According to a statement, these portals have been open for some 30 years and have been ignored. MGX said is prepared to litigate the loss of its FMC.
MGX is a diversified Canadian resource and technology company with interests in strategic metals, precious metals and advanced energy technologies.
