Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has kicked off a high-resolution aeromagnetic survey at the Barwidgee Gold Project in Western Australia, targeting key mineralised structures at the Sim’s Find and New England Granite prospects.
The aerial survey will provide important drill-targeting data for the high-grade prospects, which have previously produced results up to 8 metres at 24.3 g/t gold and 2 metres at 20.9 g/t gold.
Yandal intends to cover an 8.5-kilometre by 3.7-kilometre area in 50-metre spaced lines, flown between existing survey data lines to effectively generate 25-metre spaced lines once all data is amalgamated.

“We are pleased to have this program underway as we have been planning to collect detailed aeromagnetic data in the Sims Find area for some time,” Yandal Resources managing director Tim Kennedy said.
“A suitable survey aircraft was in the district for another client, so we took the opportunity to save on mobilisation costs and complete the survey at a very competitive rate.”
Busy pipeline of exploration
Once the survey is complete, Yandal will begin a follow-up reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Sims Find trend, while also investigating several other advanced prospects within the project tenure.
“Historic broader spaced surveys at Sim’s Find indicate that the high-grade mineralisation is associated with magnetic lows within the host dolerite, possibly due to chemical alteration by mineralising fluids,” Kennedy explained.
“This survey will assist us in delineating the orientation and extent of the host lithology and demagnetised zones which will then guide future rounds of drilling.
“The survey will also cover the New England Granite area where limited historic work has demonstrated gold mineralisation associated with a deformed granite-greenstone contact.
“The aeromagnetic data will be used to accurately define the granite margins and cross-cutting large-scale tensional faults that are also prospective for gold.”
Yandal also intends to begin a review of historical and recent drilling data at the Mt McClure Project to better understand the geological controls on potential high-grade plunging shoots there, and a round of RC drilling aimed at expanding the initial mineral resource estimates at the Challenger, Success and Parmelia prospects of Mt McClure.
