Wizz Air Holdings PLC (AIM:WIZZ) reported an increase in its passenger numbers in September as it continued to “grow its network and improve its customer offering”.
According to a statement, Wizz Air carried over 4.5mln passengers at a load factor of 87.1% in September, a 51.5% increase from the same period last year, while on a rolling 12-month basis passengers grew by 162%.
Growth was boosted by its expansion in Romania, with an additional five aircraft being allocated to Bucharest, the airline said.
Wizz Air also re-opened its base in Chisinau, Moldova, with three aircraft and 15 resumed routes after Moldovan airspace was temporarily closed at the end of February.
Further expansion across Italy will also be launching this October, with an additional 750,000 seats across 12 new routes to Rome and Milan.
Wizz Air said it “continuously operates among the lowest CO2 emissions per passenger/km amongst its competitors”, at 57.1 grams per passenger/km for the rolling 12 months to 30 September 2022.
