Electra Battery Materials CEO Trent Mell joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share news the company has put out a release enforcing the company is on time for the commissioning of its cobalt refinery which is located north of Toronto. That includes being over 85% complete on key items like testing of existing brownfield equipment for recommissioning, procurement, and detailed engineering. Mell also told Proactive the company has completed process development and engineering on recycling black mass material. The company is looking to demonstrate up to 75 tonnes of material in a batch mode using the facilities of the refinery. Mell all shared with Proactive the company has signed a three-year agreement to supply battery-grade cobalt to LG Energy Solution which is a leading global manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.
