A fourth leak has been found in the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline that connects Russia to the European Union, though gas prices have continued to fall.
Sweden finding the fourth on Thursday, adding to gas leaks reported by Denmark and Sweden in either the Nord Stream 1 or 2 pipelines earlier this week.
Despite this, UK natural gas futures fell to 290p per therm from a two-week high that was over 320p.
Investors have been balancing the almost full gas storage against concerns regarding future Russian supplies after the four leakages in Nord Stream gas pipes.
UK gas storage sites were 96.5% full as of Tuesday, above the EU average of 88.2%, Aggregated Gas Storage Inventory said.
Nato believes the incidents were "deliberate, reckless and irresponsible acts of sabotage” by Russia in response to the sanctions the West issued on Putin’s state.
Russia, however, denied these allegations and labelled the accusation as “predictable and stupid.”
The Swedish coast guard confirmed they found the most recent leak on Nord Stream 2, extremely close to a larger one found previously in the weak on Nord Stream 1.
EU has long been repeatedly accusing Russia of using gas as a weapon against Western countries in retaliation to the widespread support for Ukraine.
