Libertine Holdings PLC (AIM:LIB) said its master services contract with General Electric (NYSE:GE) has been switched to Hyliion Holdings Corp after the US electric truck maker acquired GE’s KARNO technology.
Hyliion, said Libertine, has engaged it to support the development of the electrical linear generator for the KARNO generator, which is a hydrogen and fuel agnostic capable generator technology.
The generator will be deployed in the Austin, Texas-based outfit's Hypertruck powertrain platform to offer next-generation, fuel-agnostic semi-trucks, or articulated lorries as they are known in the UK.
Libertine chief executive Sam Cockerill said: “We are pleased to approve the novation of our master consulting services agreement to Hyliion and continue to support the development of the electric machine into Hyliion's fuel agnostic technology for the Hypertruck KARNO.
“It has been a pleasure to work with GE on this project and we look forward to working closely with Hyliion in the future, to support their product development roadmap."
Hyliion agreed the US$37mln acquisition from GE in August.
Capable of operating on over 20 different fuels, including hydrogen, natural gas, propane, ammonia and conventional fuels, the KARNO generator technology uses heat to drive a sealed linear generator to produce electricity, with heat produced by reacting fuels through flameless oxidation or other heat sources, including renewables.
