Electric vehicle pioneer Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is recalling almost 1.1 million of its electric cars over concerns that a closing window could pinch a passenger before it retracts.
The recall applies to certain Tesla Model 3 vehicles for 2017-22 along with Model Ys for 2020-21 and Model S and Model X vehicles for 2021-22, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.
Tesla stated in a safety recall report that it isn’t aware of any crashes, injuries or deaths associated with the issue.
Investors alreday spooked by a Fed-induced sell-off reacted swiftly, sending Tesla shares down nearly 4% to $289.54 on the tech-dominated Nasdaq.

In a tweet, Tesla CEO Elon Musk slammed the characterization of the car’s issues that prompted the recall.
“The terminology is outdated & inaccurate. This is a tiny over-the-air software update,” Musk said. “To the best of our knowledge, there have been no injuries.”
At no cost to the customer, Tesla said it will deploy an over-the-air firmware update to affected vehicles that enhances the calibration of the vehicle’s automatic window reversal system.
Exact timing for the update's release has not been announced, but Tesla's stores have already been notified and letters will be sent to owners in November as required by law.
