Creo Medical Group PLC (AIM:CREO) has said its founder and chief technology officer (CTO), Chris Hancock has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
The company noted that the Academy has elected 72 leading figures in the field of engineering and technology, comprising 60 Fellows, seven International Fellows and five Honorary Fellows.
They all made exceptional contributions to their own sector, pioneering new innovations, leading progress in business or academia, providing high-level advice to government or promoting a wider understanding of engineering and technology, said the medical device company, which focuses on the emerging field of surgical endoscopy.
Hancock has over 25 years of experience in medical device development, as well as being a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, a Chartered Physicist, a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, a Chartered Engineer and a Senior Member of the IEEE, the company noted.
He was appointed as a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor at UCL in July 2019 and now gives lectures on how engineering and medicine can be brought together to produce better clinical outcomes for patients.
The CREO Medical founder and CTO is a named inventor and lead author on over 1,200 patent applications and journal publications. In 2019, he was named in the Sunday Times Maserati 100 annual list of inspiring entrepreneurs and awarded the Institute of Physics Katherine Burr Blodgett Gold Medal and Prize for his work in electrosurgery, the company added.
“It is a great honour to be elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering, and to join a group of individuals who have contributed so much to the field,” Hancock said in a statement.
