District Metals Corp. (TSX-V:DMX) has revealed that drilling returned significant polymetallic assays from its Gruvberget property in Sweden’s prolific Bergslagen Mining District, known for world class polymetallic mines such as Boliden’s Garpenberg and Lundin Mining’s Zinkgruvan.
The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company reported assay results for five drill holes (GRU22-001 to GRU22-005) from the Spring-Summer 2022 drill program at the polymetallic Gruvberget property.
A total of 1,144 m in five drill holes were completed at the Gruvberget North zone from mid-May to early-July 2022. All the drill holes were 30 to 60 meter (m) step outs below historical drill intercepts where four out of five holes intersected polymetallic sulphide mineralization that remains open at depth and partially along strike.
The company highlighted the following results:
- GRU22-002 intersected 9.1m at 6.1% ZnEq, which refers to a calculated zinc (Zn) equivalent grade (130 to 139.1m), including 3.3m at 13.0% ZnEq (134 to 137.3m).
- GRU22-003 intersected 9.2m at 5.9% ZnEq (127.0 to 136.2 m), including 2.7m at 9.2% ZnEq (133.5 to 136.2 m).

In a statement, District Metals CEO Garrett Ainsworth said: "Our first pass drill program at the Gruvberget property has been a great success. Drilling at the Gruvberget North zone has returned significant polymetallic assays over appreciable widths with continuity that remain open from a shallow vertical depth of approximately 160m.”
He added: “The vertical extent of some polymetallic deposits in the Bergslagen District can be quite significant such as Boliden's Garpenberg Mine and Lundin Mining's Zinkgruvan Mine where mineral resources extend to depths of 1,600m, which makes the window of opportunity at Gruvberget very large.”
Ainsworth noted that the Gruvberget North zone warrants a much larger drill program to better assess the size and scale of the mineralized system the company has on hand.
District Metals' advanced exploration stage 5,144-hectare Tomtebo property is also located in the well-known Bergslagen Mining District of south-central Sweden.
