Empire Metals identifies 'highly prospective' feature at Pitfield from airborne survey

Empire Metals Ltd (AIM:EEE) said it has identified “a suite of anomalous conductive features”, many in unexplored areas from an airborne electromagnetic (AEM) survey of the Pitfield copper-gold project in Western Australia.

In particular, the survey identified a 30 kilometre (km) long regional alteration feature, considered highly prospective for sediment-hosted copper, defined from the interpretation of the AEM survey and aeromagnetic data.

Some previously defined copper anomalies in proximity to old workings also showed distinct boundaries in conductivity response, Empire noted, with the Yandanooka Basin overall containing features of an attractive sediment-hosted copper exploration target.

In a statement, Shaun Bunn, Empire managing director, said: "Combined with the highly successful airborne magnetic survey, Empire now has a clear sense of the significant mineralised potential of Pitfield.

“When matched with the aeromagnetic data, a coincidence of elevated magnetic signature and more resistive rocks in the EM occurs within the upper Mt Scratch siltstone sequence and defines a 30 km long regional alteration feature."

“The large area contained within and around the margins of this feature is considered highly prospective for sediment-hosted copper. In addition, the survey has highlighted specific anomalous conductive areas that may relate to sulphide accumulations or native copper associated with mineralised systems," he added.
