Québec Nickel says second drill rig now operating at its Ducros nickel-copper-PGE project

The DUSC is around two kilometres (km) wide by around 10 km long and is interpreted to be underlain by significant volumes of ultramafic and mafic dikes and sills

Québec Nickel Corp has reported that a second drill rig has begun turning at its Ducros project, which will complete around 3,000 metres (m) at the Ducros Ultramafic Sill Complex (DUSC) target.

The DUSC is around two kilometres (km) wide by around 10 km long and is interpreted to be underlain by significant volumes of ultramafic and mafic dikes and sills that have been injected into a large package of sulphide-bearing clastic metasediments.

The first phase of drilling will target "strong magnetic high geophysical features" with well defined conductors, which were highlighted and further refined by two airborne surveys.

Drilling at DUSC is expected to take around nine weeks and includes a scheduled brief hiatus during the fall moose hunt, the company said.

Also in the statement, Quebec Nickel said that due to the high-grade nickel-copper-PGE and gold assay results returned from recent drilling at the Fortin Sill Zone it had applied to the Quebec Government for a new drill permit that will allow for the continued step-out and expansion drilling.

The new drilling permit has been received and the brushing-out of new drilling pads and access trails has begun. Drilling at the Fortin Sill Zone continues as planned with another 5,000 to 6,000m expected to be completed by the end of the year, the firm said.

Quebec Nickel is focused on acquiring, exploring, and developing nickel projects in the Canadian province.

It owns a 100% interest in the Ducros property, consisting of 280 contiguous claims covering 15,147 hectares (Ha) within the eastern portion of the Abitibi greenstone belt.
