Beyond Meat COO arrested as he bites into not-so-tasty human nose

The 53-year-old man faces 'terroristic threatening' and third-degree battery charges but was released after paying a £9,711 bond on Sunday

Beyond Meat Inc (NASDAQ:BYND) chief operating officer Douglas Ramsey was arrested for reportedly biting another man’s nose following a football match in Arkansas, America.

The 53-year-old man faces “terroristic threatening” and third-degree battery charges, according to court records, but was released after paying a £9,711 bond on Sunday.

It occurred on Saturday night, as he was leaving a parking garage in Fayetteville when he got in a row with another driver and "ripp[ed] the flesh on the tip of the nose," a US TV station, which cited a preliminary police report, said.

Ramsey joined the vegan food giant, which produces plant-based burgers, sausages and nuggets, in December last year, while it was listed on the New York’s Nasdaq exchange in May 2019.

Beforehand, he had a roughly 30-year career at meat processing company Tyson Foods (NYSE:TSN), where he was in charge of its poultry and McDonald’s business units.

Beyond Meat’s initial public offering was one of the most successful in the States in recent years, with its shares rocketing over 160% on the first day of trading.

Although its shares have plummeted since then, sinking more than 70% in 2022 alone.

Chief executive Ethan Brown insisted higher prices of plant-based meat and the cost-of-living crisis have slowed the company’s growth this year.
