OptiBiotix Health achieves commercial milestone as India rollout begins

The company's partner, Apollo Hospitals & Pharmacies, owns the country's biggest pharmacy chain

OptiBiotix Health PLC (AIM:OPTI) said its partner Apollo Hospitals & Pharmacies has launched GoFigure weight management products in India.

With 5,000 outlets, Apollo owns the country’s largest pharmacy chain. It will initially stock meal replacement shakes and powdered shots.

However, the range will be expanded over time with extra flavours and new products such as bars.

OptiBiotix will be responsible for product development and manufacturing locally in India and has tailored the range jointly with the Apollo team to suit the unique needs of Indian consumers, investors were told.

The rollout, which began on September 18, 2022, will be overseen by the company’s subsidiary, OptiBiotix Limited.

Its chief executive, René Kamminga, said: "We are very pleased that our GoFigure products are now available to the consumer in India through Apollo Pharmacies, a leading pharmacy chain in India.

“Our GoFigure range of weight management products have been specifically formulated to support consumers on a weight loss journey by reducing hunger and food cravings as well as modifying the gut microbiome in the direction of a lean person.”

The company’s consumer and healthcare products have been developed to modulate the human microbiome, a bacterial ecosystem that resides mainly in the gut.

Its focus is metabolic syndrome and diabetes, systemic low-grade inflammation, obesity, cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol and healthy ageing.
