Light Sciences Technologies completes first phase of £13.84mln contract

The company has a multi-stage contract with salad grower Zenith Nurseries

Light Sciences Technologies Holdings PLC (LSTH) said it has delivered the first phase of a £13.84mln contract for salad grower Zenith Nurseries.

The company will receive £51,000 for achieving the milestone, called Gateway 1. In its announcement, the food-tech group said the customer wanted to change the order of the future ‘gateways’.

This will see the incorporation of the rolling cloche lighting and sensor technology within polytunnels used to grow vegetables moved up the running order to allow Zenith to increase yields and extend its growing season.

"We are delighted with the progress made on the project and the agility of our relationship with Zenith Nurseries, which has allowed a reordering of workflow to bring forward part of Gateway 4,” said LSTH chief executive Simon Deacon in the statement.

This process will start in the first half of next year and will generate revenues of £1.9mln.

Investors were also told that a UK Research and Innovation grant has increased from just over £500,000 to £621,077.
