DFS Furniture, IG Group and John Lewis results in focus as Bank of England pushed back a week

Other companies reporting include Checkit, Foresight Solar, Gresham House, Hilton Foods and MJ Gleeson

With the Bank of England's monetary policy meeting pushed back a week, this Thursday's schedule should be a lot quieter for London traders, though investors should have plenty of company news to sift through.

DFS Furniture PLC (LSE:DFS) will be one of those, with final results that follow a year-end statement in June where it warned of slowing market demand in the fourth quarter as the cost-of-living crisis hits customers.

As well as blaming ongoing supply-chain disruption and lower order intake since April for production and deliveries missing expectations, the sofa seller cautioned that it is difficult to forecast consumer behaviour for the year ahead.

"We think it is unlikely to miss on this recent guidance," said UBS, though analysts said they will however be "looking for colour" on operating cost inflation, store rollout and commentary on consumer behaviour in current trading.

Guidance for the year ahead will be sought, though rival ScS revealed a soft outlook recently, with order intake was down on last year and pre-pandemic.

"We expect that high ticket purchases will remain pressured for as long as consumers cut back on discretionary spend and non-essential purchases in an attempt to mitigate rising living costs," the UBS analysts said.

Elsewhere in the retail sector, though unlisted, will be results from John Lewis, where Dunelm numbers today should have provided some indications.

There should be a trading update from spread-betting broker IG Group Holdings Plc (LSE:IGG), which at its final results in July reiterated medium-term guidance for total revenue of 5-7% in 'core markets+' and 25-30% in the 'high potential markets' segments.
