ECR Minerals PLC (AIM:ECR) said drilling has started at the Blue Moon prospect at its Bailieston gold project in Australia using the company’s own drill rig.
The 'MIDAS' diamond drill rig will drill an initial four holes covering 1,000 metres (m), following up on positive results from a reverse circulation drilling programme.
The AIM-traded company announced in August that it planned to start drilling at the prospect.

“As I stated in our drill plan announcement on 11 August 2022, the previous Blue Moon campaign in 2019 recorded consistent levels of mineralisation at hole BBM007 of 15m @ 3.81 g/t (grams per tonne) gold,” said ECR chief executive Andrew Haythorpe in a statement.
“It was considered then that these numbers could indicate a potentially commercial discovery, although of course this cannot be guaranteed," he added.
The Blue Moon prospect is located 8.5 kilometres directly south of the HR3 prospect where the company has already reported encouraging results.
