Starbucks to start NFT-based loyalty programme using Polygon's blockchain technology

Starbucks Odyssey will let customers buy and earn digital collectable stamps in that offer other various benefits and immersive experiences

Starbucks Corporation said it will start a non-fungible token (NFT)-based loyalty programme using Polygon’s blockchain technology.

The programme, Starbucks Odyssey, will let customers buy and earn digital collectable stamps in the form of NFTs that offer other various benefits and immersive experiences.

Polygon’s proof-of-stake network will be used, which is a scaling tool that sits above the Ethereum network.

Apps running on Polygon and other scalers can avoid some of the high costs and low transaction speeds caused by congestion on Eth’s network, Coindesk said.

The global retailer of speciality coffee first hinted at making a Web3 experience in May when it unveiled plans to launch many NFT collections providing “unique experiences, community building and customer engagement."
