ESG-focused investment group Ikigai Ventures expects to start trading in London this week

The company plans to raise a gross £2.09mln on admission via a placing of 4.18mln shares at £0.50 each and have a market capitalisation of £10.3mln

Ikigai Ventures Ltd expects to start trading on the main market of the London Stock Exchange on or around September 15, the investment company said as it published its prospectus.

The company plans to raise a gross £2.09mln on admission via a placing of 4.18mln shares at £0.50 each, according to its prospectus, and expects to have a market capitalisation of £10.3mln.

The company, pronounced "ee-key-guy”, was set up last year to acquire businesses that have a strong positive social impact and/or ESG strategy as part of their core business in the Asia-Pacific region. It said it does not have any specific acquisitions currently under consideration.

PWC has predicted that US$7.5 trillion will be invested into sustainable products by 2025 with US$1 trillion of those as ESG funds in Europe, Ikigai said, citing the worldfinance.com website.

“The ESG sector is in a strong state of growth, not least in Asia, and we believe there are attractive long-term acquisition opportunities in the sector,” said chief executive Nicholas Bryan-Brown.
