Great Atlantic Resources Corp (TSX-V:GR) has kicked off a new exploration program at its Golden Trust project in Newfoundland.
The program will zero in on areas of gold soil anomalies that were identified in a 2020 program, the Vancouver-based resources company said in a statement.
According to Great Atlantic, 23 soil samples collected in 2020 returned anomalous gold values.

In the 2022 program, Great Atlantic will focus on the northern portion of the property in areas of gold soil geochemical anomalies, as well as the southern part of the project.
The program consists of prospecting, rock geochemical sampling, and soil geochemical sampling to further define gold soil geochemical anomalies and identify target areas for geophysical surveys, trenching and diamond drilling, Great Atlantic told shareholders.
Highlights from the 2020 program include 16 of 50 samples (or around 32%) along an approximate 1.3-kilometer (km) section of a soil line returned between six and 26 parts per billion (ppb) gold, with six samples returning 11 to 26 ppb gold.
Three of six samples along an approximate 130-meter section of a soil line returned gold values of 14, 19 and 52 ppb, according to a release, as well as scattered additional gold anomalies of up to 28 ppb gold.
Golden Trust is located 1.5 km north of the Valentine gold project owned by Marathon Gold and approximately 44 km southwest of Great Atlantic's Golden Promise property.
The 2,400-hectare property occurs within an under-explored area of the Newfoundland central gold belt.
Great Atlantic Resources is a project generator with a special focus on critical elements prominent in Atlantic Canada: gold, copper, zinc, nickel, cobalt, antimony, and tungsten.
