Advanced Material Development receives further funding from US Department of Defense

The funding comes from the Foreign Comparative Test (FCT) program

Advanced Material Development (AMD) said it has received further funding for its graphene-based ChamEM signature management collaboration with the US Army from the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).

The funding comes from the Foreign Comparative Test (FCT) program, aiming to develop a solution with a high technology readiness level (TRL) to satisfy defence requirements more quickly and economically, AMD said.

In March this year, the ChamEM project entered its third year of funding from the US Army.

In a statement, Richard Lee, chief commercial officer of AMD, said: “This core AMD technology has been developed with the support of the US Army. This new OSD funding moves the project into its fourth year and is a clear example of AMD’s ability to advance its nanomaterials technologies towards real end applications.”

According to the US Department of Defense, the FCT program is designed to test items and technologies of the US's foreign allies, providing it with a unique tool to bypass the capability development cycle by enabling the test and evaluation of mature foreign developed technology to determine procurement alternatives for existing or emerging requirements.
