Mindset Pharma Inc (CSE:MSET, OTCQB:MSSTF) said it has filed 16 national patent applications, including in the principal South East Asian markets to protect one of its key families of novel next-generation psychedelics with differentiated characteristics, “Family 1”.
Family 1 drug candidates are described as second-generation psilocybin analogs with potential improvements in effect size, safety, and manufacturing compared to psilocin and psilocybin, the company said.
Mindset’s Family 1 scaffold also includes the company’s first elected clinical candidate MSP-1014, a psilocybin-like chemical entity which is the company’s most advanced drug candidate.

Mindset CEO James Lanthier said the filing of multiple international applications for Family 1 would offer protection for the company’s drug candidates as it looked to move MSP-1014 into human clinical trials as early as 2023.
“Mindset is applying state-of-the-art innovative medicinal chemistry to expand our rich pipeline of optimized psychedelic medications with improved overall efficacy and reduced toxicity profiles and we will continue to protect our compound pipeline and ensure that we provide the most effective options for patients with neurological and psychiatric disorders,” he said.
The company also recently filed another provisional application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office applying a new elegant chemical structural strategy to Family 1, which Mindset said has never been explored before, to enhance its overall intellectual property moat around Family 1 candidates.
Further, Mindset announced that it has granted options to purchase an aggregate of 200,000 shares of the company, exercisable at a price of $0.55 per share and expiring on September 6, 2023, to an investor relations consultant of the company.
Mindset Pharma is a drug discovery and development company focused on creating optimized and patentable next-generation psychedelic medicines to treat neurological and psychiatric disorders with unmet needs.
