Fireweed Metals appoints Peter Hairsine to board of directors

Hairsine is an asset development specialist with more than 20 years of experience in mining and resources and a representative of Fireweed's large shareholder, Ibaera Capital

Fireweed Metals Corp (TSX-V:FWZ, OTCQB:FWEDF) announced that it has appointed Peter Hairsine to its board of directors.

Hairsine is an asset development specialist with more than 20 years of experience in mining and resources and a representative of Fireweed's large shareholder, Ibaera Capital, a private equity fund that specializes in future-facing minerals investment.

A former project study manager and manager of business development for Fortescue Metals, Hairsine is currently a partner in Ibaera Capital.

Fireweed told shareholders that Hairsine has been responsible for a number of large project studies in the Australian and international minerals sector and possesses “excellent appreciation of the key commercial and financial requirements to ensure a successful project."

"The addition of Mr Hairsine brings wide experience with major project development to our already strong board,” CEO Brandon Macdonald told investors in a statement.

“With Fireweed's rapid growth into a leading critical minerals development company, we expect he will be a key contributor to advancing our world-class zinc and tungsten projects."

The company also said that it is granting, pursuant to its stock option plan, a total of 3,950,000 stock options exercisable at a price of $0.55 per share for a five-year term. Management, staff, and consultants are being granted 2,860,000 stock options, and non-management directors are being granted 1,090,000 stock options.

Vancouver-based Fireweed’s project portfolio includes the Macmillan Pass zinc-lead-silver project in Yukon and a pending acquisition on the adjacent Mactung tungsten project, as well as the Gayna River zinc-gallium-germanium project, also in Yukon.
