Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) is preparing to unveil its latest smartphone tomorrow with an iPhone 'extravaganza' to celebrate its first in-person event since the coronavirus pandemic.
Four new iPhone models are to be launched by the California company at the event, including iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, plus two plus-size versions of each device.
The launch event will be streamed on Apple.com and YouTube.
Apple might also reveal a "Pro" version of its Apple Watch at the event, and AirPods Pro 2 are also expected.
The launches follow last year's iPhone 13, 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Mini and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Despite experts predicting a gloomy economic outlook, Apple reportedly instructed suppliers to produce at least 90mln units, indicating that the company expects iPhone 14 demand to be comparable to that of iPhone 13 last year.
Wedbush Securities analysts predict strong demand for the iPhone 14, estimating that 240mln of 1bn iPhone users worldwide have not upgraded their phones in over three and a half years.
The new iPhones will be available to pre-order on September 9, though fans have had to wait a bit longer in previous years for some devices. Stores will get the new models on September 16.
A number of new features are expected in the Pro models, including an upgrade to A16 processors, a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens, up from 12-megapixels, an improved ultra-wide angle lens with larger pixels, and perhaps a new telephoto lens with a longer zoom.
In the 'Far out' invite, Apple appears to have teased the addition of an astrophotography mode for the iPhone 14.
