Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) confirmed it is testing out an ‘Edit Tweet’ feature on the social media platform after announcing in April it was working on the update.
In a statement, the social media platform, currently in the midst of a legal battle with Elon Musk as he looks to back out of his US$44bn takeover, said the Edit Tweet feature is being tested initially by its own team.

The test will then be expanded to Twitter Blue users, who pay for the service, in the coming weeks, before being localised to a single country and expanded as Twitter learns and observes how the feature is used.
Users who aren’t involved in the test group will still be able to see that a tweet has been edited, although they will not be able to do so themselves just yet.
Twitter said that the feature lets people make a few changes to a tweet within 30 minutes of when it was published to correct spelling errors, missed hashtags etc.
An icon, timestamp and label will appear below the edited tweet, so it is clear it has been altered.
“For context, the time limit and version history play an important role here,” said Twitter.
“They help protect the integrity of the conversation and create a publicly accessible record of what was said.”
