Caspin Resources Ltd (ASX:CPN) has begun first-pass exploration activities at the Mount Squires Project in Western Australia with an airborne electromagnetic (AEM) survey targeting nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation in the West Musgrave corridor.
The survey will be conducted by NRG Australia over 200 square kilometres or 1,500-line kilometres, searching for bedrock conductors prospective for massive sulphides.
It will focus on a rock belt thought to be an extension of the nearby Nebo-Babel mineralisation discovered by OZ Minerals, which stretches some 20 kilometres into the Mount Squires tenure.
Caspin used soil geochemistry to identify possible targets along this corridor at a major structural intersection.
Although the company is awaiting more soil sample results, CPN has already begun infill sampling at noted anomalies, which have demonstrated prospectivity for nickel, copper, cobalt and chrome.
Working toward genuine nickel-copper target
“The timing of this survey could not be better, with a renewed focus on the strategic value of nickel and copper in global decarbonisation as well as the prospectivity of the West Musgrave Province to supply these critical metals,” Caspin Resources CEO Greg Miles said.
“The preliminary geochemical data suggest that we have the right host rocks within a prospective corridor and perhaps, with further work, a genuine nickel-copper sulphide target.
“We are incredibly fortunate to be able to fly our AEM survey over this anomaly immediately, to help develop this target.
“We’re looking forward to a busy couple of months at Mount Squires, with the results of drilling at the Duchess Prospect and the remainder of initial soil geochemistry still to come, followed by the results of the AEM survey.
“And then later in September we’ll start the second phase of aircore drilling to complete the first pass testing of the Duchess Prospect and potentially drill some new nickel-copper targets on the West Musgrave magmatic corridor.
“All results will be returned by the end of the year, by which time we’ll be back drilling at our Yarawindah Brook Project. It will be an exciting end to the year for our shareholders!”
