Frontier Developments unveils new games via Foundry label

F1 Manager 2022 was also launched for pre-order customers this week

Frontier Developments PLC (AIM:FDEV) announced two new games at Gamescom that will be published through its Frontier Foundry third-party publishing label.

The two new titles, Stranded: Alien Dawn and The Great War: Western Front, are being developed by Haemimont Games and Petroglyph respectively.

Stranded, a planet survival simulation game, is due to arrive in early access on PC via Steam this October, while The Great War, a real-time strategy game that allows players to experience World War 1 through the eyes of both theatre commander and field commander, will launch on PC in 2023.

Frontier has released various titles through its Foundry label, with the recent Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters having received a positive early reception.

Held annually in Cologne, Gamescom is the world’s largest event for computer and video games and Europe's leading business platform for the games industry.

As well as launching F1 Manager 2022 for pre-order customers on Thursday, with full launch on 30 August, the event also saw Frontier release a cinematic story trailer for KeokeN Interactive's sci-fi adventure game Deliver Us Mars ahead of a release date set for 2 February 2023.

Haemimont and Petroglyph are both respected developers in their respective genres, said analyst William Larwood at Liberum.

"This, coupled with the fact that these titles are in the simulation and strategy genres respectively, and are closer to Frontier’s bread and butter than titles previously published through Foundry, will help ensure their success, in our view," said Larwood.

He expects £20mln of revenues from Foundry in the 2023 financial year.

Analyst Katie Cousins at broker Shore Capital said she viewed Foundry as a "small but building part" of the group's financials, with the division "still in its early stages".
