Powerhouse Energy encouraged by growing number of overseas projects

Powerhouse has signed projects in Ireland and Poland since its half-year end in June

Powerhouse Energy PLC interim chairman Keith Riley said he is encouraged by the growing interest outside of the UK for its waste-to-energy projects.

Since its half-year end in June, Powerhouse has signed projects in Ireland and Poland with its development partner Hydrogen Utopia.

"Poland is a European leader in revitalising its economy towards net zero carbon emissions, while Ireland is in the process of establishing its hydrogen strategy with a view to becoming a major player in the emerging hydrogen economy," he said.

"There have been additional changes to the management team post period end, however at working level, the business continues to grow in strength and advance the commercial implementation of its technology,” he added.

Paul Drennan-Durose, Gill Weeks, Myles Kitcher and James Greenstreet have all stepped down from senior positions in recent weeks with Paul Emmitt appointed chief operating officer from CTO.

Powerhouse is still in its development stage and posted revenues of £352,000 (£373,000) and a loss of £899,000 (£1.1mln) in the six months to end-June 2022.

Cash at the end of the period was £7.5mln.

“The changes implemented in our commercial relationships made during the first half of this year will create the foundation for the growth of the company in the years to come,” Riley added.
