Flynn Gold Ltd (ASX:FG1) has set a second drill rig turning at the Trafalgar prospect of the Golden Ridge Project in Tasmania after intercepting broad zones of quartz sulphide veins with fine-grained visible gold.
The company opted to accelerate its drilling program due to four broad gold zones in diamond hole TFDD002, the first hole drilled at Trafalgar.
Flynn previously reported an intersection of 5.4 metres at 10.63 g/t gold from the first zone of gold veining, with narrower intersections of:
- 1.9 metres at 19.88g/t gold, including 0.4 metres at 52.20g/t gold from 160.1 metres; and
- 2.0 metres at 9.02g/t gold, including 0.35 metres at 35.10g/t gold from 163.5 metres.
TFDD002 was drilled down to 619.9 metres of depth. Flynn is in the process of sampling the new sulphide gold zones in drill core and sending it to the laboratory for assay.
More prospects to be tested along strike
“The occurrence of multiple vein zones hosting visible gold in TFDD002 is very promising and has encouraged the company to expand its drilling capacity at Trafalgar,” Flynn Gold executive director Sam Garrett said.
“Gold mineralisation is now reported over a vertical extent of 500 metres at Trafalgar (open at depth) and the new diamond rig has commenced the next phase of testing the system along strike.”
“At a project scale, between the Trafalgar prospect to the east and Kensington prospect to the west, gold mineralisation is reported over a vertical extent of 1 kilometre and a lateral distance of over 6 kilometres which has only been drill-tested at Brilliant, Trafalgar and now Kensington.
“Our scout RC [reverse circulation] drilling program is working to fill in the gaps targeting surface gold geochemical anomalies in this zone along the ridge between Kensington and Trafalgar with the aim to generate the next generation of advanced drill projects at Golden Ridge.”
Flynn has completed scout drilling at the Kensington prospect and will now turn its RC rig to drill testing the Blinding prospect.
