AuKing Mining finds copper mineralisation at Cosmo and sulphides at Onedin at Koongie Park in WA

Cosmo is 500 metres southwest of the main Onedin deposit area and largely unexplored. AuKing plans to conduct further drilling there later in the year and add more resource tonnes to Koongie Park, which currently boasts a JORC-compliant min

AuKing Mining Ltd (ASX:AKN) has confirmed the presence of near-surface copper mineralisation at the Cosmo prospect and a broad zone of sulphide mineralisation at the Onedin deposit with exploratory drilling programs at the Koongie Park Project in Western Australia.

The company drilled 13 reverse circulation (RC) holes for 2,418 metres at Cosmo, with nine drillholes revealing the presence of shallow copper mineralisation with additional zinc and silver in assays.

Highlights are as follows:

  • 9 metres at 0.51% copper, 0.48% zinc and 5 g/t silver from 73 metres, including 3 metres at 0.75% copper, 0.41% zinc and 7 g/t silver from 75 metres;
  • 21 metres at 0.41% copper, 1.99% zinc and 2 g/t silver from 106 metres, including 5 metres at 0.74% copper, 2.79% zinc and 4 g/t silver from 115 metres;
  • 6 metres at 0.61% copper, 0.88% zinc and 3 g/t silver from 127 metres; and
  • 14 metres at 0.48% copper, 0.74% zinc and 5 g/t silver from 154 metres.

Potential to add more resource tonnes

“The discovery at Cosmo, while still at very early stages of an unexplored system, was very encouraging especially due to its proximity to the existing Onedin deposit and its potential to add more resource tonnes to Koongie Park, which hosts a JORC-compliant mineral resource of 8.9 million tonnes,” AuKing Mining CEO Paul Williams said.

The Cosmo deposit is 500 metres southwest of the main Onedin deposit area and is largely unexplored. AuKing intends to complete further drilling here later in the year.

Near the Onedin deposit, AKN tested downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) conductor targets with diamond drilling and successfully identified a notable zone of sulphide mineralisation at depth – creating potential for an underground development option should further drilling confirm AuKing’s assumptions.

Assays for drill core from drilling at Onedin are still pending.
