Tesla CEO Elon Musk says Full-Self Driving price to rise to US$15,000

The price hike comes as Tesla is making FSD more widely available to drivers

The price of Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software will rise to US$15,000 in North America on 5 September 2022, the company’s CEO Elon Musk announced on Twitter.

The US$3,000 price rise comes after Tesla raised the cost of access to FSD beta to US$12,000 from US$10,000 last January. The feature originally cost US$5,000.

It is not clear whether Tesla plans to increase the price of its FSD subscription, which currently costs US$199 per month.

After wide release of FSD Beta 10.69.2, price of FSD will rise to $15k in North America on September 5th.

Current price will be honored for orders made before Sept 5th, but delivered later.

The price hike comes as Tesla is making FSD beta 10.69 more widely available to drivers.

FSD allows drivers to use Tesla’s advanced driving assistance system (ADAS), Autopilot, although it is not a fully autonomous system.

Tesla has been accused of making “untrue or misleading claims” about its vehicles’ self-driving capabilities by California’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), which has alleged that the names Autopilot and FSD could deceive users into thinking that the vehicles can operate autonomously.
