American Eagle Gold Corp (TSX-V:AE) told investors that it has started drilling at its NAK copper gold project in British Columbia, which, the company says, is a classic porphyry target.
Reinterpretation of historical exploration and drilling data has defined several targets, which will be tested this year by between four and six vertical holes of around 800 metres (m) in length.
Previous owners partially defined a large area of shallow copper-gold mineralization at NAK, which is open in all directions.

The company has said it believes historical drilling, previously restricted to shallow depths, stopped short of the most "compelling geophysical anomalies at depth".
Previous drill results showed wide intervals of copper-gold mineralization, including one hole, which hit 0.35% copper and 0.645 grams per ton (g/t) gold over a width of 168.5 metres starting 5.5 metres from the surface.
NAK is in the Babine copper-gold porphyry district of British Columbia, Canada, which contains the historical Bell and Granisle mines and the Morrison deposit.
The property can be accessed via well-maintained forest production roads from Topley Landing. The NAK deposit occurs in the Stikine Island Arc Terrane, which hosts many copper porphyry deposits in British Columbia.
American Eagle Gold is fully funded for NAK's 2022 exploration program.
