Last night’s much anticipated US premiere of House of the Dragon, the prequel to the blockbuster Game of Thrones series, was hit by reports of streaming problems with HBO Max apps either crashing or freezing.
Most of the problems appeared to be on the Amazon Fire TV platform, or with Fire Stick, according to a report in The Verge.
In an email statement to The Verge, Chris Willard, HBOs senior VP, communications, said: “House of the Dragon is being successfully viewed by millions of HBO Max subscribers this evening. We’re aware of a small portion of users attempting to connect via Fire TV devices that are having issues and are in the process of resolving for those impacted users.”
The 10-part House of the Dragon series is set 172 years before Game of Thrones and tells the story of the Targaryens during their rule of Westeros.
The highly successful original series was made by Warner Bros. Discovery subsidiary HBO.
