Shares in Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) wobbled in pre-market trades after it disclosed security flaws affecting its iPhones and iPads on Wednesday.
It made two security disclosures, saying that iPhone 6 and more recent models, together with all iPad Pros and certain iPad mini, touch and Air models were vulnerable to attack.
The tech giant said hackers could exploit identified faults to gain access to consumers’ devices.
“An application may be able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges,” Apple said in a statement, adding: “Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.”
In another update, Apple said: “Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.”
Apple’s shares tumbled from a high of US$175.69 on Wednesday afternoon to US$173.36 shortly after the markets opened yesterday morning, before making gains later that day.
Apple’s share price dipped again overnight by 0.84% in pre-market trades.
