Cabral Gold says latest drill results from PDM target at Cuiú Cuiú augur well for deposit's potential

The latest assays come from 21 reverse circulation (RC) holes from the gold-in-oxide blanket at the target, which was first identified last year

Cabral Gold Inc (TSX-V:CBR) has released more drill results, which augur well for the potential of the deposit at the PDM (Pau de Merenda) target at the company's Cuiú Cuiú gold project in Brazil.

The latest assays come from 21 reverse circulation (RC) holes from the gold-in-oxide blanket at the target, which was first identified last year.

"These latest RC results from the PDM oxide blanket are important for two reasons," explained Alan Carter, Cabral's CEO in a statement. "Firstly, they further demonstrate the presence of a higher-grade core within the unconsolidated oxide blanket. Secondly, they lend further support to the presence of a second primary mineralized zone in the underlying basement granitic rocks at least 250m in length and sub-parallel to the initial zone of primary basement gold mineralization below the oxide blanket."

The drill results included one hole, which hit an intercept of 11 metres (m) grading 3.1 grams per ton (g/t) gold from surface in oxidized and weathered material. This included a length of 3m at 10.5 g/t of the precious metal, starting from a depth of 5m.

Another hole hit 32m at 0.5 g/t gold from surface, while another hole hit a length of 9m, again from surface, which graded 0.6 g/t gold.

Carter noted that while Cabral currently has "no idea" how large the primary gold deposit is at PDM, these results confirmed the presence of a second primary zone of gold mineralization in basement granitic rocks underlying the oxide blanket.

"Both the gold-in-oxide blanket and the two zones in the primary basement rocks are open to the north and may extend under an area of historic artisanal workings," he added.

Cabral said the PDM target lies 2.5 kilometres (km) northwest of the Central gold deposit at Cuiú Cuiú within a prominent northwest-trending gold-in-soil anomaly.

This anomaly has been traced for more than 5 km along strike and in it lies the Central gold deposit, Central SE target, Central North target, PDM target and Mutum target.

Cabral is a junior explorer focused on gold properties in Brazil. It has a 100% interest in the Cuiú Cuiú gold district located in the Tapajós Region, within the state of Pará in northern Brazil.

Two gold deposits have so far been defined at Cuiú Cuiú and contain 43-101 compliant indicated resources of 5.9 million tonnes (Mt) at 0.90 g/t for 200,000 ounces and inferred resources of 19.5Mt at 1.24 g/t for 800,000 ounces.
