Transition Metals starts drilling large breccia system on its Aylmer project in Ontario

COO Greg Collins said Transition Metals feels that the Aylmer breccia system may be the high-level expression of a much larger, vertical intrusion driven, mineralized system at depth

Transition Metals Corp (TSX-V:XTM) has kicked off a 1,250-metre (m) drilling program on three targets within a large, mineralized breccia system at its Aylmer project in Sudbury.

The targets cover an area of 1,000m by 400m on the property, which consists of 119 mining claims covering 3,312 hectares north of Lake Wanapitei in northern Ontario.

Transition has outlined a large, highly altered and mineralized breccia system that extends to a vertical depth of at least 400m, according to the company.

The breccia system occurs within a north-trending regional structural zone that is thought to be around 14 to 15 kilometres wide, Transition said.

The Hilltop breccia target will be tested by a fan of west-trending drill holes oblique to the contact but perpendicular to the sediment stratigraphy in which the holes are collared. Drilling at the Copper Trench Breccia, located around 200m south, will be oblique to the north-south trend of the breccia and extend northward to also test an area of pervasive and intense alteration located to the northeast.

Finally, drilling at the MT anomaly will test a vertical depth of about 200m. At depth, this anomaly appears to connect to a larger, strong MT anomaly at approximately 1,000m depth, Transition said.

Transition Metals COO Greg Collins told shareholders that the company feels that the Aylmer breccia system may be the high-level expression of a much larger, vertical intrusion driven, mineralized system at depth.

“The brecciation and alteration we are seeing is similar to breccia zones being explored nearby by companies including Inventus Mining and MacDonald Mines which are reported to host broad intervals of elevated copper, cobalt, gold and silver values,” Collins said in a statement.

The COO also noted funding through grants provided by the Ontario Junior Exploration Program (OJEP) to support the program. The OJEP is designed to encourage exploration for new strategic metal deposits in Ontario.

Sudbury, Ontario-based Transition Metals is a multi-commodity project generator that specializes in converting new exploration ideas into Canadian discoveries.
