Riversgold Ltd (ASX:RGL) has demonstrated the efficacy of deep ground penetrating radar (DGPR) survey technology on its wholly owned Tambourah Lithium Project in Western Australia, using data from the survey to triple the number of lithium targets on the tenure.
The company increased the number of interpreted lithium-bearing pegmatites from 12 to 40 at Tambourah, doubling the prospective strike of the project from 1.3 kilometres to 2.7 kilometres in total length.
Data from the survey has indicated some of the lithium-prospective pegmatites could be over 20 metres wide, and 27 of the new pegmatite targets share 1.2 kilometres of cumulative strike with known mineralised pegmatites, both promising indications of potential.
Low impact, high return method
“We are thrilled with the clarity of the DGPR data and what it means for fine-tuning the upcoming drilling program at Tambourah,” Riversgold CEO Julian Ford said.
“We did get great penetration with visibility on potential lithium pegmatite dykes down to at least 50 metres below surface, and this with zero surface impact.
“The survey also shows a very large set of conjugate structures which have the potential to host lithium pegmatites.
“Through this survey, we have at least tripled the footprint of the interpreted lithium system at Tambourah. DGPR should significantly help decrease our drilling costs at Tambourah.
“Going forward, the method will certainly aid us to fast-track early exploration at our newly acquired, highly prospective, Southern Cross – Marvel Loch Lithium Project.”
Given the success of the DGPR survey, Riversgold is assessing a deeper penetration survey down to 300 metres to follow the first stage of drilling at Tambourah.
RGL is also finalising geochemical assays from surface samples, and intends to complete geological mapping and 10,000 metres of targeted drilling once a program of works has been approved.
