Latin Resources hits broad pegmatite intersection of 18.75 metres at Colina West in the Salinas Lithium Project of Brazil

“We knew there were additional parallel pegmatite systems out to the west; getting these spodumene intersections confirms the very high prospectivity of the wider project area," exploration manager Tony Greenaway said.

Latin Resources Ltd (ASX:LRS) has discovered a swarm of spodumene-bearing pegmatites 500 metres to the west of the Colina Prospect of the Salinas Lithium Project in Brazil, confirming the high potential of the area with a broad interception of 18.75 metres of spodumene in drill hole SADD033.

Additionally, the latest assays from resource definition drilling at the main Colina area continue to demonstrate strong results, including:

  • 20.40 metres at 0.97% lithium from 120.60 metres, including 10.00 metres at 1.20% lithium from 120.60 metres;
  • 5.81 metres at 1.53% lithium from 188.93 metres; and
  • 20.09 metres at 1.35% lithium from 71.00 metres, including 2.00 metres at 2.17% lithium from 73.00 metres, and 2.00 metres at 2.32% lithium from 80.00 metres.

Latin’s regional mapping has also outlined a possible convergence of the Colina and Colina West systems, having highlighted a third outcropping pegmatite system further to the west.

Results confirm “very high prospectivity”

“The intersection of these significant spodumene pegmatites in drill hole SADD033 is an impressive new discovery for the Salinas exploration team,” Latin Resources exploration manager Tony Greenaway said.

“This hole is testing an area approximately 500 metres to the west of Colina, well outside of our current resource definition drilling focus.

“We knew there were additional parallel pegmatite systems out to the west; getting these spodumene intersections confirms the very high prospectivity of the wider project area.

“While we will continue to focus on the resource definition drilling for Colina to ensure that we deliver our maiden JORC Resource as planned, we are preparing additional drill site at Colina West for drill testing in due course.

“This spodumene pegmatite discovery at Colina West may have the potential to deliver additional shallow resource tonnes for the project with further drill testing.”
