Polymetals Resources Ltd (ASX:POL) has discovered broad zones of higher-grade gold from phase three drilling, which reinforce the prospectivity of the Alahiné Gold Project in Guinea’s Siguiri Basin.
The company’s reverse circulation (RC) drill program consisted of 74 drill holes on 17 traverse lines across 6,385 metres, intersecting strong results including:
- 16 metres at 3.01 g/t gold from 62 metres, including 7 metres at 5.78 g/t from 71 metres;
- 4 metres at 10.62 g/t from 8 metres; and
- 15 metres at 1.33 g/t from 7 metres, including 4 metres at 3.77 g/t from 14 metres.
POL’s objective is to discover ‘Siguiri-style’ mineralisation akin to AngloGold Ashanti (ASX:AGG) Ltd’s 10-million-ounce Siguiri Gold Mine, situated 37 kilometres west of the Alahiné licence.

Strike continuity
POL’s phase three drilling program at the Alahiné is focused on confirming the strike continuity and down-dip extent of mineralised intersections reported from previous drilling programs.
In addition, the program aimed to extend mineralisation to the south, along strike of the known mineralised areas.
The drilling intersected mineralisation on infill drill traverses along strike, down-dip and up-dip of previous drill holes.
Encouragingly, drilling has also successfully demonstrated continuity of mineralisation over a strike length of 1,700 metres.

Anomalous abundances of some or all of these elements may signal the presence of mineralisation at depth, in which case, further follow-up will be undertaken.
Closer spaced drilling is planned to delineate potentially economically mineable zones.
Also, the Alahiné permit encompasses several interpreted high-level intrusives that lie within a structural corridor defined by two major parallel faults trending north-northwest to northwest.
These targets remain untested by drilling and are considered to be highly prospective for identifying additional zones of mineralisation in all directions of the tested mineralised structure.
