Archer Materials Ltd (ASX:AXE, OTC:ARRXF) has secured the Hong Kong patent associated with its 12CQ quantum computing chip technology (12CQ chip).
Archer is the only ASX-lister and one of a few players in the world developing qubit processor chip technology in the semiconductor industry.
The granting of the Hong Kong patent represents a significant early-stage milestone in the company’s development of the 12CQ chip.
Path to practical quantum computing
The patent protects a proposed qubit processor chip offering a path to realise practical quantum computing and provides Archer with exclusive and legally enforceable commercial rights to the 12CQ chip invention in Hong Kong.
These rights add to the protection provided by the patent systems of Europe, the US, China, Japan, South Korea, and Australia the company has been granted in recent years.
The Hong Kong patent is the last piece of the puzzle – all jurisdictions where the company had pending patent applications in the current 12CQ chip portfolio have now said yes.
Patent protection gives Archer the right to stop others from manufacturing, using and/or selling the 12CQ chip technology invention and is required for any possible future commercialisation operations in the respective granting jurisdictions.
