Riversgold Ltd (ASX:RGL) is readying to embark on a 10,000-metre drill program at the Tambourah Project in WA’s Pilbara region.
The explorer is on the hunt for lithium at the West Aussie property and has just submitted a program of works to the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) to cover the drill 50-hole program.
Once the rig is on site, it’ll focus on drilling pegmatites from the surface to 200 metres downhole in order to determine the scale and nature of battery metal mineralisation.
That’s because recent fieldwork and elemental analysis at Tambourah indicates the project’s northwest zone could host a spodumene-rich lithium system, where lithium oxide grades up to 3.14% have been reported.
Even still, the northwest program — covering tenure where extensive pegmatite outcrops have already been mapped and sampled at the Bengal, Ragdoll and Lion prospects — covers only a fraction of the overall Tambourah tenement.
Riversgold CEO Julian Ford said of the program: “We have identified enough lithium-rich targets at Tambourah to start the drilling phase of our exploration efforts.
“This 2022 drill season at Tambourah has the potential to considerably and quickly upgrade the project in terms of scale and prospectivity.”
