Carnavale Resources Ltd (ASX:CAV) has kicked-off a third round of aircore drilling at the Ora Banda South Gold Project in Western Australia, pursuing strong gold grades previously intercepted at the Highlander and Carnage prospects.
CAV intends to undertake 6,500 metres of aircore drilling, targeting an area of 2.5 kilometres by 500 metres at Carnage, and 2 kilometres by 400 metres at Highlander.
Past drilling results from this area include up to 4 metres at 8.82 g/t gold, and Carnavale believes the geological setting at these two prospects mirrors that of the Invincible Gold Mine (2.5 million ounces of gold at 4 g/t), discovered by Gold Fields Ltd near Kambalda in 2012.
Targeting anomalies in high-grade zones
“We are excited to be returning to the new prospects at Ora Banda South. CAV has launched a third aircore program to zoom in on the gold anomalies to expand the high-grade gold zones that were identified in the scout drilling,” Carnavale Resources CEO Humphrey Hale said.
“The scout drilling provided definition to the gold anomalies in the regolith and improved confidence along strike.
“Upon completion of the aircore CAV will plan an RC (reverse circulation) program to test for depth extents of the regolith anomalism in the top 200 metres from surface.”
Apart from this latest program at Highlander and Carnage, Carnavale also recently completed an aircore drilling program over the McTavish East and Champion South prospects, again targeting repeats of high-grade intercepts discovered at McTavish East and McTavish North.
The company also drilled three diamond tails for 490 metres in some of the aircore drill holes at McTavish East, with results from both drilling programs still pending and expected sometime this quarter.
Finally, Carnavale recently received data from a moving loop electromagnetic (MLEM) survey over the Grey Dam Nickel Project.
CAV is evaluating these results in conjunction with the ultra-fine fraction (UFF) soil data, aeromagnetic and passive seismic data already collected by the company to establish which conductors are worthy of follow-up.
