Perpetual Resources Ltd (ASX:PEC) has unearthed potentially good quality yellow silica construction sand in a reconnaissance auger drilling program at the Beharra North tenement of the Beharra Silica Sands Project in Western Australia.
The auger program consisted of 25 shallow auger holes on the northern end of the Beharra project exploration licence and revealed none of the light grey or white sands – which tend to be of higher quality – which occur in the southern portion of the tenure.

“Although no light grey or white silica sand applicable to the manufacture of clear glass was intersected, the yellow sand is considered high quality and has the potential for construction applications,” Perpetual Resources managing director Robert Benussi said.
“This exploratory drilling clearly demonstrates the uniqueness of the light grey and white silica sand that has been delineated over a strike length of approximately 6.5 kilometres at the southern end of the Beharra exploration tenement and further confirms the apparent uniqueness and high quality of Perpetual’s existing mineral resource and reserve estimate at Beharra.”

Perpetual has submitted samples from selected drill holes for geochemical analysis, with results expected this quarter.
