SpectrumX Holdings UK Ltd said it has secured a manufacturing partner to produce its lead antimicrobial drug, SPX-001, for clinical trials.
Working with the UK-based specials contract manufacturing group will give the company access to a facility certified under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations, as required for clinical trials by the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
SpectrumX said its new partner has “unparalleled experience working with pharmaceutical companies in MHRA-compliant medicine production”.
“By partnering in this way, SpectrumX will be well-prepared for an upcoming MHRA scientific advice meeting.”
The biotech will continue to produce its proprietary HOCl chemistry, essential to SPX-001’s success, at its production facility in Knutsford, it said.
