Spirent pre-tax profit and revenue soars

Pre-tax profit was US$40.3mln, 16% higher than the first half of last year.

Spirent Communications (LSE:SPT), the 5G mobile networks testing business, reported a jump in revenue and pre-tax profit for the first half of 2022, with a record order book set to bring "greater revenue visibility".

The FTSE 250 communications company said pre-tax profit was US$40.3mln for the six months ended June 30, a 16% growth from the prior comparative period, whereas revenue was US$280.1mln compared to US$255.1mln in the prior period.

"While vigilant of the macro-economic backdrop, the board remains confident in the group's long-term prospects and the outlook for the full year remains unchanged," the company said in a statement.

The board declared a 10% increase in the interim dividend to 2.63p per share.

"Spirent delivered another half year of strong performance with double-digit growth in orders, revenue and profit," said Eric Updyke, chief executive.

"We enter the third quarter with strong momentum and an increased orderbook."

Shares of the company were 0.29% up at 280.80p in early trades.

Analysts at Jefferies said: "With momentum looking strong across all parts of the business into H2-22, our full year forecasts could prove conservative."
