Dart Mining NL (ASX:DTM) is pleased with the findings from a regional soil survey at its Granite Flat Copper-Gold Project in Victoria, where it’s one step closer to understanding the scale of a base and precious metals system.
Slightly more than 5,000 samples were taken along 50-metre spacings within a 4-kilometre by 4-kilometre grid at Granite Flat and the multi-element survey has highlighted multiple porphyry targets across a large footprint.
What’s more, new soil anomalies have been identified by portable XRF analysis, with soil copper and/or lead, zinc and arsenic anomalies remaining open to the project’s south and northeast.
Dart Mining chairman James Chirnside said of the results: “The undertaking and completion of this soils program has redefined the project footprint, further emphasising the extensive scale of this project.
“The company is encouraged by these developments, particularly when considered in tandem with observed alteration within the recently completed deep diamond drilling program.”
Anomalies galore
The survey has primarily given Dart a closer look at a 2.4-kilometre by 1.8-kilometre copper-gold anomaly, which recorded peak soil readings of 0.32% copper, 3.1 g/t gold, 807 parts per million zinc and 737 parts per million arsenic.
There’s also scope for several subsidiary soil anomalies at Granite Flat, including:
- A 1-kilometre by 900-metre copper anomaly.
- A 500-metre by 900-metre soil lead-zinc-arsenic anomaly (open to the south and east).
- A 1.1-kilometre by 800-metre soil lead-zinc-arsenic anomaly (open to the north and east).
- A 1.8-kilometre by 500-metre lead and zinc anomaly (open to east and west).
- An 800-metre by 300-metre soil arsenic anomaly (open to north and east).
- An 800-metre by 500-metre soil arsenic anomaly.
Overall, Dart says it’s encouraged by the geochemical results, particularly after it encountered altered monzodiorite and granodiorite porphyry within three drill holes on the property.
As a result, the soil sampling program has only further boosted its confidence as it explores for copper and gold across Granite Flat.
