Ryanair’s passenger count grew by 16.8 million this July, making for an 81% increase compared to 2021 numbers, data published on Wednesday August 3 shows.
The Irish budger airline operated approximately 92,300 flights in the month, with load factor coming in at 96%.
Load factor is an efficiency rating that measures the percentage of available seating capacity filled by passengers.
Rolling annual passenger count was hit by the Omicron variant between December and February, although at 142 million was still a 255% year-on-year improvement.
NASDAQ-listed RYAAY shares were up 0.5% in Tuesday’s after-hours trade.
The competition
Hungarian budget rival Wizz Air also saw strong July results, having increased passenger count by 61%, although rolling annual numbers were a less impressive 128% increase.
Meanwhile, easyJet continues to grapple with large-scale flight cancellations and strikes among its Spanish pilots, which may be leading customers to shop around elsewhere.
