Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has begun extensive drill-testing of key gold targets in the Ironstone Well, Barwidgee and Mt McClure projects in the Yandal Greenstone Belt of Western Australia with a combination of reverse circulation (RC) and aircore drilling.
Ironstone Well and Barwidgee projects combined cover 470 square kilometres of contiguous tenure that the company considers highly prospective and underexplored between the Jundee and Bronzewing mines.
Mt McClure is also close by, not far from Bronzewing mining infrastructure along established haulage roads, making for much easier access and transportation to the project tenements.
RC and aircore drilling
The program will comprise around 8,500 metres of RC drilling and 16,500 metres of aircore drilling.
It will initially test key targets within the Ironstone Well and Barwidgee projects and this will be followed by further aircore and RC drilling at Mt McClure testing test target areas adjacent to historic open cut mines and structural targets identified from aeromagnetic data.
“Busy pipeline of exploration activity”
“We are very pleased to have this important drilling program underway to test a suite of compelling targets within our Yandal Gold Belt tenements,” Yandal Resources managing director Tim Kennedy said.
“The Ironstone Well and Barwidgee projects host several exciting targets including the Cash prospect which is immediately along strike from Northern Star’s Corboys deposit, so we are very much looking forward to accelerating our exploration efforts in this region.
“We look forward to reporting on a busy pipeline of exploration activity and assay results over the coming months.”
At the Barwidgee Project, Yandal will focus on the Cash prospect, Sims Find and New England Granite targets, while at Ironstone the company will investigate the Flushing Meadows and Quarter Moon-Oblique prospects.
Finally, at Mt McClure, YRL intends to drill the HMS Sulphur, Success, Parmelia and Challenger targets.
