Galileo Mining kicks off extensive RC drill campaign to test priority polymetallic targets at Callisto discovery

“We believe the opportunity for discovering a large mineralised system is significant and we look forward to progressing this exciting new discovery,” said MD Brad Underwood.

Galileo Mining Ltd (ASX:GAL) has kicked off an extensive reverse circulation (RC) drill campaign to test priority polymetallic targets at its Callisto discovery near Norseman in Western Australia.

The 50-hole, 10,000-metre program that is expected to run for 12 weeks, is designed to follow up on the widespread and consistent palladium-platinum-gold-copper-nickel-rhodium discoveries previously intersected at the project.

“Exciting new discovery”

Galileo managing director Brad Underwood said: “Following the approval of our work program from the Department of Mines (DMIRS), we are now able to begin testing the true extent of mineralisation discovered at Callisto.

“We will be drilling on a 50-metre spacing around the previously announced drill results as well as stepping out up to one kilometre to the north.

“We know from the regional magnetics and outcrop mapping that the ultramafic host rock continues to the north over five kilometres.

“What we don’t know is how far the mineralisation extends within the host rock over that prospective strike length as the discovery does not outcrop.

“Now that drilling is underway, we are in a strong position to begin testing the regional prospectivity.

“We believe the opportunity for discovering a large mineralised system is significant and we look forward to progressing this exciting new discovery.”

Shares higher

GAL shares have been as much as 10.1% higher in early trade to A$1.20.

Galileo’s drill campaign consists of 50-metre spaced drill holes around the known mineralisation combined with regional-scale drilling up to one kilometre north of the existing drill holes.

Furthermore, the company has identified five kilometres of untested strike length with good potential for more mineralisation of the same style.

Forward plan

Galileo will deliver samples to the laboratory every week with assays from this round of drilling expected as early as next month.

The company has also signed a diamond drilling contract with this drilling planned to start in mid-August 2022.
