Galliford Try wins public sector contracts worth £56mln

Its shares climbed 1.1% to 172p following the news

Galliford Try Holdings PLC (LSE:GFRD) revealed its building business won two contracts worth a combined £56mln.

The construction group was appointed to the £26mln Oasis Restore Secure School in Kent, on behalf of the Ministry of Justice.

The project consists of the refurbishment of the former site of Medway secure training centre to create the first secure school in the UK, including three residential blocks, creating 49 bedrooms, two educational buildings and a central services building.

Galliford will also build the £30mln Worthing Integrated Care Centre development, which will provide a GP, mental health, community and dentistry services, a pharmacy, a multi-storey car park and extra services for families and young children.

Bill Hocking, Galliford's chief executive, commented: "Our sustainable growth strategy of maintaining strong positions on public sector frameworks and collaborative relationships with local authorities are borne out by these two contract wins.”

Its shares rose 1.1% to 172p on the news.
