e-Therapeutics PLC said it filed a further eight patent applications in the US to “protect innovation arising” from its GaINAc-siRNA technology.
GaINAc-siRNA technology is used to silence any gene, that is to switch off the gene essentially, in liver hepatocytes, the cells in a liver that help in metabolism, detoxification and protein synthesis.
The patent applications relate to innovation coming from the company’s work on its pre-clinical siRNA candidates in several areas, e-Therapeutics said in a statement.
That includes novel target ideas and associated disease-relevant biology identified using the company's computational platform, novel siRNA therapeutics and novel siRNA chemistries associated with such siRNA therapeutics.
On 4 May, the group announced as part of its end-year results that 11 patent applications had been filed to protect its designs.
“Our computational platform not only affords us an important advantage in drug discovery, but also in IP strategy, and we are leveraging this position in our patent applications,” said Ali Mortazavi, chief executive of e-Therapeutics.
